Philosophy is concerned with fundamental issues such as the nature of reality, knowledge, and how we should act. Answers to these questions have been supported. The discipline of Philosophy, which is both ancient and modern, is essential in today's academia. Nonetheless, its practical significance is evident in all aspects of life, including national policy decisions, corporate management, media, law, ecology, gender, science, and technology; and in cultures and traditions that we inherit as well as those that influence us. None of these can function without solid philosophical underpinnings.
The Department of Philosophy at Alankar PG Girls College was started in the year 2006 with an aim to prepare students to work beyond the parochialism of either the Indian or Western philosophical traditions in order to practice philosophy without boundaries. The Department offers this subject at undergraduate level (B.A.). The course aims to familiarize students with the subject's core areas, so that they are aware of the significance and implications of studying 'ontology,' 'epistemology,' and 'metaphysics.'
Apart from the theory classes classroom presentations, debates, visits, etc are to be included in the curricular activities.
